Dr. Santa Tradition Continues at PPE Emergency Departments
December 15, 2010 (Red Bank, NJ) ‘Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus’….right to Emergency Departments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Physicians’ Practice Enhancement, LLC, a leading Practice Management organization with expertise in Emergency, Hospitalist, Pathology, Behavioral Health and Physical Therapy management, continue their annual “Dr. Santa” tradition by playing Santa to any pediatric patients who are treated in their clients’ emergency departments.
Beginning Christmas Eve at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through midnight Christmas Day, all children ages 12 and under who are treated at emergency departments managed by PPE will receive a gift given to them by the emergency department physician.
Begun in 1994, the “Dr. Santa” program has, over the years, provided thousands of toys and gifts to pediatric patients. For Joseph J. Calabro DO, FACOEP, FACEP, founder and CEO of PPE, “it’s a way to give back to the community that supports our clients’ hospitals and an opportunity to provide a smile on the faces of our youngest patients during the holiday season.” Adds Dr. Calabro, “Our physicians are part of the community they serve. For a child Christmas Eve and Christmas Day should be a family-oriented time of fun and joy. A visit to the Emergency Room disrupts that pleasure. “Dr. Santa” is just our way – our physicians’ way - of showing compassion and making their visit to the hospital as good an experience as it can possibly be.”
Jack Calabro, Dr. Calabro’s 19 year-old son, is still responsible for collecting all toys and gifts for the “Dr. Santa” program, to which local businesses and individuals have enthusiastically contributed. For Jack, the thought of giving an unexpected gift to a child who must spend part of Christmas in the emergency room is something that brings a smile to his face. “So many of us are fortunate to be in a position where we can give to others. To be able to do so for the youngest of patients is a gift for me and those who help with this program each year.” The presents will be sent to client emergency departments throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
We now introduce Pathology Practice Management to our portfolio of services:
There is a real need to maximize the clinical and economic performance of a Hospital's Pathology department. Perhaps, this may be the case with your Pathology department. Reductions in surgical and cytology payments, loss of outpatient business and other factors are driving this trend. Hospitals must cost effectively manage pathology resources and produce the highest quality laboratory results. Rising costs and a competitive healthcare environment demand professional practice management of a hospital's pathology department. PATHlink provides that clinically correct, economically right solution.
If your pathologists are hospital employed, PATHlink will assume complete management responsibility for these physicians and the entire pathology practice. This extends from initial laboratory evaluation through reimbursement. Our PATHlink program will provide a quality clinical service that significantly improves your pathology ROI.
