Physicians' Practice Enhancement's (PPE) Intensivist Program was founded to provide Critical Care management services to hospital-based practices. The field of Critical Care has changed markedly in recent years to accommodate a growing population of critically ill patients. PPE Intensivists lead the Critical Care team, which consists of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, to provide continuous and consistent care to critically ill patients. PPE Intensivists help to coordinate care between physicians, surgeons and various subspecialists involved in patient care management. They act as the ''gate-keeper'' to the unit, working in close collaboration with other departments to improve the flow of patients throughout the hospital, in an effort to reduce length-of-stay and improve patient satisfaction. Our Intensivists take the initiative in monitoring and implementing procedures aimed at reducing rates of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP), Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) and Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infection (CLABSI).
